My favourite film opening of all time would probably be from the film The Breakfast Club 1985, Directed by John Hughes. The film begins with various shots of a 'typical high school', with the iconic song 'Don't You Forget About You' by Simple Minds. I think this simplistic film opening really introduces the film in a great way, as it tells the audience where the film is situated, and the character of some of the students. It also introduces the genre of the film (comedy), as some of the shots are of vandalism and writings such as "I hate Mondays" and "Open this locker and you die!!!" The film opening also shows minor scenes of each of the main characters interacting with their parents, who are dropping them off for detention on Saturday morning. I thought that it was interesting to show how the students react and behave towards their parents, and how some are showed as pressured and somewhat intimidated by them. Overall I believe this opening is perfect for the genre and nature of the film, and it really introduces the audience to the scenery and the main protagonists.
